Louis Sartori is a journalist and photographer specialising in long-form, research driven reportage. His output and creative process is steered by his background in the humanities. Specific interests lie in interactions between modernity and traditional forms of western cultural rhetoric. He holds a degree in American Studies. Most recently, Sartori’s work has been concerned with questions surrounding modern concepts of death and posterity. His latest project, In the Corner of the Dark Fatherland considers the speciousness behind modern day perceptions of Finland as the world’s happiest country. The project considers the current shape of Finnish mental health relative to the country’s historical suicide trends.
Sartori works with images and text, using image making as both an act creation and critical enquiry. Less reflective, his work is often pointed and impatient, influenced by traditional examples of investigative journalism.
Alongside his personal projects Louis has a regular commercial practice covering events, e-comm and sports assignments for high profile clients including Apple and Pheane.
In 2026, he was shortlisted for both the London Independent Photography Magazine Awards, and the Photography Foundation Awards.
